SKI TOUR IN KOREA - Transportation from seoul to ski resorts; Vivaldi resort

Regardless of age or gender, the first problem we have to solve is transportation when we travel abroad. Because the public transportations are so complex that even the local living in Korea have difficulty with using public transportation like bus or train without searching internet or using applications operated by Korean language. Needless to say, it is almost impossible for foreign tourists who are unfamiliar with Korea to use public transportation to go to ski resorts from Seoul.

Let's take an example.
Supposed that a foreign guest tries to go to Yongpyong resort placed at Gangwondo from Hongdae in Seoul by public transportation.
He/She has to take a subway line No.2 to Euljiro 3ga until transferring to line No.3. And then, he/she goes to Nambu Terminal and takes intercity bus costing 12.000 won to go to Hoenggye bus terminal.
After arriving at there, he/she should get on village bus again. Sadly, getting off the village bus at the entrance of Yongpyong resort is not the end of this long long exploration. He/she has to go up about 800m to see the white ski slope. Can you imagine that? It is terrible, isn't it?

Of course, the local don't use this way because they can be gathered with friends and use their car.
On the other hand, can foreign tourists use their own car? Definitely not.

Then, there are 2 options for foreigners to go to ski resorts.
1. Borrowing Private Van by travel agency
2. Taking Shuttle bus run by ski resort

In case of option 1, you can borrow Starex, a sort of van, costing 230.000 won for one-way from Seoul to Deamyung Vivaldi Park. It will make you very comfortable and be good way to tour.
Unless the group is over 10 people the cost can be burdensome.

Then, how about option 2 ?
As most of skier know, the shuttle bus of Vivaldi is free, either one-way or round-trip.
Although you have to book a day before and that is a little annoying thing, this service is extremely efficient. Especially, the accessibility with Seoul is key advantage of Vivaldi; running more than 50 buses which are picking up guests 126 times per a day and are managing 36 lines connected with other cities. Maybe, it is also difficult for foreigner to make a reservation. For them, JSKI tries to help booking the bus service with a small fee.

The most popular station is 'Dongdaemun History and Culture' because it is near from 'Myungdong' which has many accommodations for foreign tourists. The next popular route is for 'Sinchon' passing 'Hongdae' and 'City Hall', but there is complaint about it because it takes long time little bit. That's because there are so many bus stations in the route crossing the westside of Seoul.
To solve this problem, Vivaldi, from this winter, starts to run a bus service only for foreigners staying at 'Hongdae', 'Gwanghwamun', 'Jongro', and 'Iteawon' where many tourists are in.
 So, Let's just expect that.

Today, I posted the transportations between Seoul and ski resorts more in detail.

SKI TOUR IN KOREA - Ski lesson in Korea for kids

Some guests ask us "Can my little kid ride a ski? He/She is only 4 years old! "
And our answer is " Of course, definitely he/she can !! "

Can you watch the video? Who can you see? A beautiful woman or a tough guy?
Nope, just a cute little boy!!

The boy's name is Jihyeok and his family took the ski lesson together.
He was just 40 months old and his height was only 90 cm !!
At the first, the parents and people passing him were worried about him because they thought he was too small to learn skiing. As you can see, this little boy could be better at skiing than his parents :)

Until second day, he needed instructor's help but on the third day, he could slide down the slope without any help. All of people in ski resort saw him and thought he was cute and some even took pictures with him with his parents permission.

So, if you hesitate about ski lesson course because of your little kids, you don't need to hesiate.
Our kind and skillful instructors can take good care of kids also.
Don't give up making wonderful memory of skiing in Korea with your young kids !
Time is so fast and your young kids grow faster than time !!

We can help you to find the ski instructor who can give you a English and Mandarin lesson.

ADVANTAGES OF SKI LESSON IN VIVALDI

More ski resorts are ready to open, the more in-bound tour agencies which have service for foreigners living their country also become busy.
More and More foreigners visit Korea to enjoy skiing because the ski resorts of Korea have high quality of service and the cost is reasonable.

Normally, the person planning to travel for skiing  chooses one among these options; 1.Korea 2. Japan 3. New Zealand. (Of course, there are special options like US or Canada for the rich.)
In that case, because the cost of plane ticket for Korea and Japan is cheaper than that of New Zealand, many Asians choose to visit Korea or Japan.

Since ski resorts placed at Hokkaido(city of Japan) have advantages of cold climate, ski resorts of Korea have to appeal other things; quality of service&accommodation, accessibility, transportation, connection with other sightseeing.

At that point, Daemyeong Vivaldi Park in Korea meets all of those conditions.
So, I want to focus on posting about Viavaldi ski resort where JSKI will stay.

                                                   1. Transportation

Most of all, the transportation of Vivaldi resort is more convenient than any other ski resorts.
Especially, the accessibility with Seoul is key advantage of Vivaldi; running more than 50 buses which are picking up guests 126 times per a day and are managing 36 lines connected with other cities.
And foreigners also can use it easily because Vivaldi resort starts to run a bus service only for foreigner starting this year. This bus will drop by Hongdea, Jong-ro, Gwanghwamun and Iteawon to pick up. Can you see their passion for serving foreigner?

                                                              2. Accommodation

Second, the accommodation. The buildings of Vivaldi resort can be classifieded into 5 wings;
Being in order from right side of this picture, Cherry - Oak - Pine - Maple - Noblian.
Because the Noblian is only for membership, most of foreigner prefer Cherry> Maple > Oak > Pine being in order.  The reason of popularity of Cherry wing is that the wing is the newest so in&outside of the buildings are tidy and modern most. Also, only Cherry is heated by hot-air furnace, not by ondol-Korean floor heating system. But the view to the ski slope is the worst and Cherry is operated in winter only to save expenses for operation.
Next popular wing is Maple, different with Cherry, opened for everyday, every season. Reasonable price, neat facilities and the best view to ski slope are another reason for being popular. (Personally, I recommend Maple for my guests.)
In the case of Oak wing, the number of persons to be accommodated is so big that it is easy to make a reservation. And its' accessibility to facilities of basement  is very comfortable.
But old-fashioned exterior of building is Oak's disadvantage, in my opinion.
Pine wing is renovated recently, but the heating type is ondol which is not attractive for foreigner.

                                           3. Connection with other places

Next, the connection with other tour courses are amazing.
Most foreigners visiting Korea do not come just because of skiing but because of touring many other places. So, it can be the best way to save their money and time by making better routes for them. Vivaldi meets this condition because visitor can go wherever famous places they want to go in a day. Above picture is a map showing you the connection between Vivaldi and surrounding tourist attractions. Nami Island is the hottest spot for foreigners touring in Korea because of beautiful natural view and the famous K-Drama 'Winter Sonata'.  And there is a strawberry farm where foreigners can experience cultivating by themselves. Also, they can visit 'Petite France', well-known for filming site of 'My Love from the Star', 'Secret Garden', 'Running Man'. After visiting those places, foreigners even can arrive at Vivaldi resort by riding a 'Railbike'!!
In that case, they can save one or two days and do everything what they plan to do with reasonable price. You can use all of these private tour packages by contact Here !!! <----Click !!

                                           4. High quality of ski lesson & service

Finally, with full of confidence, I want to tell you our good service and ski lesson in Vivaldi.
On arriving at the ski resort, we can manage all of services including check-in, borrowing equipments, ski lesson, tour package, check-out, getting on bus and even suggesting restaurant.
The instructors who can speak English/Chinese do their best for serving the ski students who come from various countries and  who are eager to enjoy skiing on white snow.

JSKI which is the team of safety, joy and efficiency has worked with Vivaldi resort for 3 years.
During that period, our ski lesson has spread continuously to more and more foreigners by introducing our brand to their friends. Also, various customers like Korean who have foreign friends, tour agencies, and companies which want to serve their foreign clients are contacting with us.
Already, ski lesson reservations on November & December are being booked fastly :)

SKI LESSON IN VIVALDI, KOREA - The lesson for beginner

Have you ever watched the Winter Olympic?
In competetion, professional ski athletes slide down the white slope so fabulously.
We imagine ourselves sliding like them :)
In reality, however, we have to learn how to ski :(

So, today, I want to give you simple information about our lesson for ski beginners.
Read carefully, practice by yourself, and.....contact us if you want to take a ski lessons in Korea!

                                             1. Description of ski equipments

Basically, you need to know the equipments you will use. Ski instructors are going to introduce the equipment's name, how to use it, and what you have to be careful. It is not difficult to memorize, but it is important because knowing the equipment's name is essential for taking ski lesson.

                                                 2. How to put on & off ski

The ski boots and plates are not just running shoes. So you have to know how to put them on & off.
After borrowing ski that fits you best, your instructor will help you wear it.
It looks easy, but sometimes your boots can have snow stuck depending on the snow condition.
In that case, you can either give it a tap with your ski sticks or scrape the boots with your toe binding.
Finish wearing? Then, you are ready to slide on white snow !!

                                                3. Practice falling down and getting up

The person who are good at falling down can avoid big injuries. Of course, the best thing is not to fall down, but falling down is so common for beginner. So, ironically, you have to learn 'how to fall down well' first. The instructor will show you on safe and flat ground step by step. Don't worry :)

                                        4.Learning 'Snow Plough'   (It's called 'A' shape)

Generally, 'A' shape is best for beginners because it is easy to control your speed this way.
To do this, you have to push the backs of the ski plates out and create 'A' shape with them.
It is going to give you some resistance and feeling of slowing down. As you can see at this picture,
the instructor slide down backwards and hold you safely to help making 'A' shape.

                                                            5.  Taking Lift to Go up

Now, we should take lift to go up to the mountain. The instructor will take good care of you so don't be afraid and trust him. Firstly, you have to move to the lift gate and line up.

And then, the gate is opened, you have to walk forward a few steps.

Look behind you at the incoming chair and  sit on that chair.

The instructor will pull down this safety bar and you will be putting your feet on top of the pull down bar.

                                                       6. Sliding Down !

Finally, you can slide down the slope! It's time to actually try it for real.

Let yourself go and then very very gently start to push the backs of the ski slightly wider.

Caution ! If you fall down during sliding down, you should move out of the way because
other skiers might crush into you. If you cannot stand up by yourself, the instructors will help you, so don't be scared.
Is it useful information to you?
Although it looks so easy and boring, it is so important that you should learn the proper forms of learning how to ski.
Also, it will be exciting lesson much more than you expect.
Stop imagining ! Just try to take a ski lesson in Korea !
We can help you to find the ski instructor who can give you a English and Mandarin lesson.
