Enjoy Fireworks at Vivaldi Park Ski Resort!

The advantage of Night Skiing

Many people thought that night skiing will be dangerous because of the low temperature and darkness.

However, the truth is different!

At night there are many lights lighted up at the ski resorts. Furthermore, there are fewer skiers compared to the skiers at noon, so you don't have to waste your time waiting for lifts.

This Korean family(father and 2 daughters) wants night skiing.
The ski lesson has proceeded for 2 hours from 7pm to 9pm.

Fireworks at Ski Resorts

One more advantage of night skiing is fireworks.
Every Saturday evening, this ski resort lights up fireworks!
(We will update the schedule of this season soon!)

Of course, you can enjoy the fireworks inside the resort, but it would be an unforgettable experience to watch fireworks at white ski slopes.

Can you feel how they enjoy the fireworks?
If you are interested in night skiing, please contact us!

SKI LESSON IN KOREA - High quality of ski lesson, JSKI

Recently, as a ski expert, we have been posting informations for foreign ski tourists planning ski tour in Korea. At this time, I want to let you know our quality of ski lesson.

We can say with confidence about the quality. From the moment you step on the ski resort, we will take good care of you from A to Z like concierge services including taking on&off shuttle bus, setting ski equipments, renting ski clothes & gloves & helmet, buying ski lift ticket, etc.
Friendly and open-mind staffs, professional instructors who can use English & Chinese are waiting for foreign guests who come from far countries and want to have fun in Korea !

Agglomerated with safety, joy, efficiency, JSKI working with Vivaldi already are taking reservations directly from foreign guests by word of mouth. ( You must be hurry if you want to book ! ^^)
Our route for accessing is very various; Korean who has foreign friends, manager of company who has to make plan to wine and dine foreign clients, foreigner living in Korea, etc.

Then, let me introduce our difference with others.

First thing is our filming equipment. We use the shooting equipment (HX-A500 made from Panasonic) optimized for recording ski lesson.
Can you find the orange colored device in this picture? That is the HX-A500 which records scenes of ski lesson vividly.
It ables us not to miss safety and filming both.

Second, we try to give special present to our guests. That's why we use the filming device and record the ski lesson like setting ski equipment, working into ski slope, taking ski lesson, and sliding down the white slope by yourself.
And then we edit the recorded scenes of ski lesson and make a film casting the guests as lead role like above video.
This film can be great present for foreign ski tourists to keep their wonderful memory of skiing.

Last attraction of JSKI is new system operated from this year; sub-miniature walkie-talkie HK-890.

Although the distance between instructor and students is close, students have difficult with hearing instructor's voice because the ski resort is very crowd and noisy. Needless to say, listening instruction carefully is very important not only for beginner who are learning basic skill but also for the advanced who are sliding down ski slope.

Are these informations enough to check our attractions?
If you want to get more informations or to check these things, just contact us !!

We can help you to find the ski instructor who can give you a English and Mandarin lesson.

SKI TOUR IN KOREA - Vivaldi resort starts to run shuttle bus ONLY FOR FOREIGNER !

Today's information is directly related with foreigners who come to Korea for ski tour.
Finally, Daemyung Vivaldi Park reorganizes its system for foreign tourists. There will be shuttle bus only for foreigners starting this year.
Until now, it was very difficult for foreigners to book and use the shuttle bus. They had to be helped by their Korean friends or travel agencies. But now, they can make  reservations without any help by using the internet. Get on the internet, connect to Vivaldi homepage, make reservation, it is so easy, isn't it? First, let me introduce the shuttle bus briefly.

The shuttle bus is planned to arrive at Vivaldi resort about 10am through Hongdae (7:30am), Myeongdong (8:00am), and Samsung station (8:30am).

Equally, returning shuttle bus is scheduled to depart from Vivaldi resort at 18:00 and to pass Samsung station (19:30), Myeongdong (20:00), and Hongdae (20:30).

Using shuttle bus has many important advantages;

1. Foreign tourists who cannot use Korean at all are able to do on-line reservation.
Of course, they can do before coming to Korea.

2. As I mentioned, the shuttle bus is scheduled to arrived around 10 am. So foreign skiers who are planning one-day trip can enjoy skiing without wasting time because they can buy&use a ski lift pass
which is available from 10:30 to 17:00. Also, while pre-existing shuttle buses depart at 17:30, this new-shuttle bus only for foreigner will make a late start at 18:00. It makes some advantages; it minimizes disorder of parking lot. And foreign skiers can enjoy skiing until 17:00 and have enough time to get ready for going back.

3. On the way to Vivaldi resort, a staff who can speak English & Chinese will ride together and let the tourists know informations about check-in, ski packages, moving line of the resort, etc.
Therefore, some foreign ski tourists who are not ready for taking lesson or enjoying ski can get enough informations and avoid to waste time when arriving at the ski resort.

4.Vivaldi resort also runs a information desk for foreigners nearby the parking lot where the shuttle bus will stop at. So, if there is a tourist who cannot get enough information, he/she can come and ask.
Also, the staffs located at the information desk can guide foreign tourists about the Vivaldi resort from A to Z; the way to main center, check-in information, all of moving line, etc.

And then, let's check how to use 'Online booking system'.

1. Access to Daemyung Vivaldi Park Homepage.
www.daemyungresort.com/en .

After accessing, this page is popped.
Then, click 'Shuttle Bus Reservation'
with red arrow.

2. Description of shuttle bus will appear. Read it and click 'Reservation'

3. The page for reservation will be popped.

4. Scroll down through the page, then there is a calendar for reservation date. Choose the date you want to get on and check all options. Select the type of trip either Round trip or One way trip, and mark how many people tourists are.
Lastly, check yourself correctly again, and click 'Book'

Also, there are some matters that require attention, please check.

-This shuttle bus schedule is exclusively for foreigner.
-All the passengers will be asked to present passport or foreign ID card before get in
-Since the seating is limited, reservation MUST be made through VIVALDI PARK website shuttle bus page no later than 2 days prior to departure.
-You CANNOT purchase a ticket on the day of departure at bus stop.
-If you have any questions, please contact +82-1833-5165

The most important thing ! Don't forget to make reservation for taking ski or snowboarding lesson from our JSKI !
The REAL instructors who can speak English and Chinese are waiting for you.
Also, we will guide the foreign guests from the shuttle bus to concierge services including setting ski equipments, renting ski clothes & gloves & helmet, buying ski lift ticket, etc.
We are sure that you will be satisfied with our services and,of course, the quality of the ski lesson.

We can help you to find the ski instructor who can give you a English and Mandarin lesson.

Snowboarding in South Korea

Hey I'm Daniel and I'm one of the instructors in JSKI that can teach both Skiing and Snowboarding. I'm from the states and have been in Korea for about 2 years. I am happy to announce to you that this season will be a great one in South Korea. I am excited for all those who will be coming to South Korea, whether it is to tour or ride the slopes in South Korea.

For the past 2 years while I was in Korea I noticed a lot of things that were lacking in the Korean community, which were foreign instructors for foreigners. Noticing this lack of supply I decided to be a part of JSKI who helps foreigners with their shuttle reservation, accommodations, ski & snowboarding lessons in a professional and kind manner. Being a part with JSKI I know how their team operates and I can 100% back them up by saying they are honest people who just want to ensure you have the best time in Korea and learn how to rip the slopes in Korea.

We are currently focused and teaching at Vivaldi Ski resort. The lesson fee's are also slightly cheaper than those offered at the resort. So if you're interested let me know and let's have a blast.

SKI LESSON IN VIVALDI - Safety, the most important thing during a ski lesson

As time goes by, winter is coming !
So, these days at JSKI have been busy preparing this year's ski season.
This year we have our base camp at Daemyung Vivaldi Park to help out our foreign guests.

Without a doubt, the most important thing in every ski resort is the safety, because skiing is an outdoor & extreme sport.
Last week, Vivaldi resort had a safety training with their patrol officers and rescue workers about their safety regulations.
The main focus about the ski lifts are, accidents on the ski lifts, installation of pulley for rescuing people, etc.
These training systems are important factors for tourists deciding to ski in South Korea.

These are some of the safety rules which people can put into practice personally.

1. Choose the slope that is right for your level.

Whatever sports you do, it is more common to bite off more than you can chew.
The first time you wear your ski boots, most beginners are nervous and worry about skiing, but the more they learn how to ski, the more they become relax they get used to the skies. It is a definitely good a situation until they become too greedy of themselves. If a beginner tries to slide down a steeper slope, it is very dangerous for them not to only himself/herself but also other skiers because controlling your speed is not an easy task for beginner. He/she may crash into others or structures. Therefore, you should enjoy skiing in a more suitable safe course.

2. Build sufficient strength.

Skiing are mainly uses of muscles in the femoral region, buttocks and abdomen. So, it is advised to strengthen these muscles in everyday life. A sudden attempt at skiing in winter without doing any exercises at all, will cause strain in your cardiopulmonary function, joints and muscles.
The best exercises to improve the cardiopulmonary function and leg muscles is cycling and jogging.

3. Have all the necessary equipment

It is recommended to use your own personal ski boots. Also, it is very important to choose a pair of ski boots that is the right size for your feet. In particular, you must pay attention to check the status of the binding as well as the conditions of your skis and poles. Also, make sure to wear protective gears, such as a helmet and goggles. To protect yourself from frostbites and eye glare, you must also put on the proper suit and gloves, etc.

4. Do not neglect training and observe the safety rules.

The most common cause of sports injuries are due to negligence of training. A first-time skier learning too many things all at once and attempting to ski down a slope is beyond the level of skills and may cause a number of problems. Ski involves acceleration. So, own your mistake can cause injuries to other people. Therefore it is recommended to learn about and observe safety rules as well as skiing techniques beforehand.

5. Check the conditions of slope in advance.

You must check the conditions of a slope to avoid obstacles. Also, when the quality of snow is not good, try skiing at a course that is a level lower than your ordinary course or slowing down while on the slope. Special caution is required to prevent injuries in areas where the snow has melted and frozen into ice, where the snow is partially melted or when it is snowing.

6. Stop skiing immediately if you're feeling tired or fatigued.

You must stop when tired to prevent serious accidents. Skiing continuously for 3 ~ 4 hours can cause high levels of fatigue. So, you need to time arrange appropriately. Accumulated fatigue will lead to so-called over-training syndrome. This will make you irritable and can cause insomnia. This will also lower your judgement and appetite as well as even causing constipation or diarrhea.

7. Warm-up enough.

It is important to stretch your muscles softly about 10 minutes.
Advanced stretching may avoid sudden muscle convulsions. Actually, 77% of injuries are caused due to insufficient warming-up.

8. Don't be afraid to fall down.

Skiers who are good at falling down are good skiers. So, it is much safer to fall down safely than to fall in a firm stance. The way to fall down safely is to take the posture of sitting down aside. After falling down, you should move to the side of the slope because other skiers might come and crash into you.

As you can see in these pictures, our JSKI are cetain that your safety is the first priority, and instructors are always concerned about your safety. So, if you want to learn skiing this winter, trust us and visit us. We promise that you can have a ski lesson with ease of mind.

We will pair you up with the ski instructor that fits you best. Our instructors can speak English, and conversational Chinese.

SKI TOUR IN KOREA - Forecasted weather of Korea in winter !

Have you ever imagined that you are sliding down the ski slope? In the imagination, how is the weather? Is it sunny or rainy? Of course not. The most ideal weather for skiing is definitely heavy snow. Actually, the weather is one of the most important points when foreign guests decide whether touring ski resorts in Korea or not. Also, it is crucial for ski resorts. For example, one of ski resorts opened ski service earlier than others but the resort failed to have enough customers due to lack of snow.

I will introduce a video, which shows ski students in snowy weather while enjoying ski. Although the quality of artificial snow is good and almost same with real thing, the feeling of sliding on real snow is much more comfortable.

Therefore, I check the forecasted weather of Korea from November to January in advance.

Month
Forecast
Comparative Temperature
Comparative Snowfall
Nov
Mainly affected by migratory anticyclone, the temperature range will be huge at the end of the month due to cold continental anticyclone. Temperature will be warmer, and snowfall will be more than average.
7.6
higher
46.7mm
more
Dec
Continuously affected by continental & migratory anticyclone. When cold continental extends, temperature will be cold with huge gap. And it will be heavy snowy at westside due to geometrical effect. Temperature will be similar with average, and snowfall will be more than average.
1.5
lower
24.5mm
similar/more
Jan
Cold continental and migratory anticyclone effect on huge temperature difference. Temperature will be similar or higher, and snowfall will be similar or less.

-1.0

28.3mm
similar/less

This chart shows that the weather in winter will be colder and the amount of snowfall is also more than last year. More and more the climate of Korea has become extreme; no more spring and fall and summer is hotter, and winter is colder.

Here in Korea, it is already so chilly that people have to wear their winter coats on.
So with this great weather lets take advantage of it and go skiing!!!

We will pair you up with one of our JSKI instructors that will fit you best. We offer lessons in English and conversational Chinese.

SKI RESORTS IN KOREA

I have posted some informations like transportation, accommodation, ski lesson but I didn't let you know the important information; How many ski resorts are in Korea?
So today, I want to focus on posting SKI RESORTS IN KOREA.

Most of ski resorts are placed at Gangwon-do
Although Gangwon-do is placed at the end of Korea, it is near from Seoul. Also, it can have cold and snowy weather due to the advantage of geographical location. That's why there are many ski resorts in Gangwon-do. As you can see in this picture, 9 ski resorts are in Gangwon-do; Elysian, Daemyung Vivaldi Park, Alpensia, Yongpyong, Phonix, Oak Valley Snow Park, High 1 and O2 resort.

All of those ski resorts are fine to enjoy skiing. But I want to introduce just 3 ski resorts because the resorts have better ski lesson system for foreigners. (Including us, JSKI ^^ )

                         1. Yongpyong Ski Resort (Pyeongchang-gun,Gangwon-do)

Located at a range of altitudes between 700-1,500m above sea level in what is affectionately known as the "Alps of Korea," Yongpyong Resort bears the distiction of being the first ski resort in Korea to offer modern facilities. Many people even go so far as to say that this particular resort is a symbol of the development and popularization of skiing across the nation.

Yongpyong Resort can accommodate more skiers at a time than any other venue in the country and has built a strong international reputation having successfully hosted the World Cup Ski Championships, the Winter Asian Games, and other international ski competitions. Widely known as a filming location of the famous drama "Winter Sonata", the ski resort is especially popular among tourists from Japan and other Asian countries.
The slopes of Yongpyong see an average annual snowfall of 250 centimeters, meaning that this excellent facility can stay open slightly longer than the standard ski season. During the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, Yongpyong will host the alpine competitions.

                        2. Alpensia Ski Resort (Pyeongchan-gun,Gangwon-do)

Alpensia Resort is tucked away in the mountains at about 700m above sea level and is known for its excellent snow quality and sweeping views of the majestic Daegwallyeong Mountain Range. In addition to its 6 different slopes (including one reserved exclusively for snowboarders), the resort uses a high-speed lift system that can transport 2,400-3,000 skiers per hour, drastically reducing wait time.

As the main venue for the 2018 Pyeonchang Winter Olympics, Alpensia Resort has recently been the subject of much buzz across the nation and in the international sports community. Though the resort is currently equipped with competetion venres for ski jumping, cross-country skiing, and biathlon events, construction is still underway for luge, bobsled, and skeleton facilities for use during the Olympics. Even before Pyeongchang won the 2018 Olympic bid, the resort received attention as the filming location of "Take off", a movie about Korea's first national ski jumping team. Accommodations available within the resort grounds include the Holiday Inn nd Suites Alpensia Pyeongchang, Intercontinental Alpensia Pyeongchang Resort, and Holiday Inn Resort Alpensia Pyeongchang.

                                 3. Daemyung Vivaldi Park Ski World

Daemyung Vivaldo Park ski World was the first ski resort in Korea to offer nighttime skiing and as such, has become a favorite among young skiers in their teens and twenties. Even the slope names (Hip-Hop, Techno, Funky, etc.) are geared towards young adults. Some of the more advanced slopes are uniquely designed with unexpected twists and turns for maximum thrills.

For those who are new to winter sports, Daemyung Vivaldi Park Ski World provides the perfect setting to safely enjoy skiing and snowboarding. There are a variety of slopes with different inclines and distances to give new snow sport enthusiasts the perfect chance to gradualy work their way up from the bunny slopes to the more advanced courses. In all, the park offers 13 different slopes and 10 lifts. Daemyung Vivaldi Park also includes Vivaldi Ocean World where you can relax at the spa after a long day of hitting the slopes.

As finishing this posting, I want to show you this video recorded at Vivaldi Park during a ski lesson.

We will pair you up with one of our JSKI instructors that will fit you best. We offer lessons in English and conversational Chinese.
